Staff Sergeant Thomas J. Kowinski, 96, of Kingston died Thursday, April 14, 2016.
Born January 2, 1920 in Plains he was a son of the late Anthony and Amelia Orzechowski Kowinski.
Tom was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Plains, Class of 1938.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in England, France, Germany, Belgium and Texas from 1941 to 1946.
Tom retired after working for Purvin Dairy for thirty-two years.
Tom was a member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas, American Legion Post 395, VFW Post 283, Knights of Columbus Council 302 and the Notre Dame Club of Wyoming Valley.
His wife of fifty-seven years, Josephine Brislin Kowinski, died September 20, 2003. A sister, Florence Savitski and brother, Anthony Kowinski also preceded him in death.
Tom will be greatly missed by his sister-in-law, Evelyn Kowinski of Chicago, Illinois; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held Monday with visitation from 9 at 10:30 AM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Church of Saint Nicholas. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to the Parish of Saint Nicholas or Celtic Hospice.
