Thomas L. Mahle, 78, of Laflin died Wednesday at his home.
Born August 27, 1934 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Thomas and Dorothy McTigue Mahle.
Tom was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School and continued his education at Luzerne County Community College and King's College.
An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict he served from 1952 to 1955.
On June 21, 1958 he was married to Marion Macejko and enjoyed fifty-five years with the love of his life.
Before retirement Tom was purchasing director for Wilkes-Barre Area Vocational-Technical School for twenty years.
Tom was previously active as a Democratic Committee Chairman and Volunteer Fireman in Laflin. He was a founding member of Project Children, a committee member of the Wyoming Valley Boxing Hall of Fame and served as the first president of the Notre Dame Club of Wyoming Valley.
Tom was an enthusiastic fan of Notre Dame athletics and the Boston Celtics. He truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
A sister, Peggy Radginski preceded him in death.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, the former Marion Macejko; children, Thomas J. (Gail) Mahle of Ventura, Florida, Robert (Kathleen Connors) Mahle of Wyoming and Kelly Ann (Jeff) Holden of Severn, Maryland; grandchildren, Julie Ann Mahle, Sean Holden and Meghan Holden; other family and friends.
Tom's entire family is grateful for the care and compassion he received from Dr. Patrick Kerrigan and his staff, and the staff of Erwine's Hospice.
Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held Monday at 8:30 AM from McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Maria Goretti. Entombment will be in the Mary, Mother of God Mausoleum at Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM.
