Thomas J. O'Connor, 95, a longtime resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.
Born November 9, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late John and Claire O'Connor.
A graduate of Plymouth High School, Tom honorably served our country as a sailor in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre.
Tom worked for Owens-Illinois and later Techneglas for many years before retiring. He then pursued his dream of formally studying art at LCCC.
Tom was a talented artist and a Wyoming Valley Art League member. He enjoyed sharing his talents and passions of painting, woodworking, and gardening with others.
Tom had a strong faith and was a member of the former Parish of Saint Therese and the Parish of Saint Robert Bellarmine in Wilkes-Barre.
His family was most important to him.
A brother, Harry, preceded him in death.
His wife, the former Marilyn Nelson; children; Clay and his wife Barb O'Connor, Trudy Shiner and her companion Joseph Clapps, Mary Jane and her husband Morris Walker, and Bridget and her husband Bob Potorski; grandchildren, Brad, Jill, Shawn, Brandon, Christie, and Zachary; great-grandchildren, Cash, Crew, Brandon, Cole, Lael, Brody, Dylan, Gaven, Ella, and Liam; other family and friends, will miss him very much.
Tom's family will celebrate his life privately.
