SSG Thomas Michael Stewart, Jr., USA Ret., 64, of Wilkes-Barre passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 23, 2020.
Mike was born September 15, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late Thomas Michael Stewart and Mildred Holmes-Stewart.
Mike served our country as a soldier of the United States Army for twenty-six years before retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He traveled the world and was stationed in many countries throughout his military career focusing on logistics. SSG Stewart was a recipient of the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service.
A sister, Mildred Holmes-Forbes, preceded him in death.
Mike will be greatly missed by his wife, Debrah Vasconcellos; daughter, Shauna and her husband Derick Chana of Maryland; grandchildren, Kearstin, Derick, Jr., Kingston, and Kensington Chana; brother, Arnold Holmes of New York; mother-in-law, Gwen Vasconcellos; sister-in-law, Juneann Marques; brothers-in-law, Jerome and Dameyon Vasconcellos; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Mike's Life will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 with visitation from 8 to 9 AM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre followed by a Committal Service with Military Honors and Burial at 11 AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
