Victoria Elias O'Donnell, 91, a life resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family at Mercy Center in Dallas on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
Born March 11, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Celia Andari Elias.
Victoria was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School, Class of 1950.
Victoria was an amazing homemaker, extraordinary cook, devoted wife, loving mother, and a doting grandmother. She loved tending her vegetable garden, baking pies and bread, and hosting her family for Sunday dinners or holiday celebrations. In later life, as a resident of the Mercy Center, she cherished her daily visits and time spent in the quiet company of her husband.
Victoria was preceded in death by her brothers Daniel, Joseph, and William Elias; and by her sisters, Nellie Saba, Josephine Podolak, and Elizabeth Reimiller.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, John J. O'Donnell; her children, Judith O'Donnell and her husband, Steven Gelone, John O'Donnell and his wife Sandi, and Patricia O'Donnell and her husband Patrick Scoble; grandchildren, Grace and Emma Gelone, John and Shannon O'Donnell, and Luke, Jacob and Aidan Scoble; brother, John Elias and his wife Susan, Kingston; several nieces and nephews; all of whom, along with other family and friends will miss her very much.
Victoria's family wishes to acknowledge the extraordinary, loving, and compassionate care she received from the nurses, aides, and all staff of Mercy Center. Their daily devotion to Victoria, and every resident of Mercy Center, especially during the pandemic, was a special blessing that will always be remembered.
Celebration of Victoria's Life is scheduled for Monday, June 6, 2022, with a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Church of Saint Aloysius at the Parish of Saint Robert Bellarmine, 143 W. Division Street, Wilkes-Barre. Honoring Victoria's wishes, there will be no calling hours.
