Vincent Thomas Nanorta, 63, of Wilkes-Barre died Monday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born December 14, 1947 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Attorney John E. and Marian Moore Nanorta.
A 1966 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, Vinnie earned an associate’s degree from Luzerne County Community College and continued studies at King's College. He was also a graduate of the American Academy of Broadcasting in New York City.
An Air Force veteran, he earned the rank of Sergeant while serving honorably for four years during the Vietnam Era.
Vincent was a claims interviewer for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry for several years and pursued his passion as a professional disc jockey at several local radio stations and night clubs.
Vinnie was a member of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception. He also volunteered twenty hours per week at the VA Medical Center from 1994 to 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Attorney John E. Nanorta, Jr. and Edward Nanorta.
He will be missed by his sister, Mary N. Stchur of Kingston; seven nieces and nephews; twelve great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Vincent’s Life will be held Friday with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 130 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Private interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Luzerne County Community College Foundation, 1333 South Prospect Street, Nanticoke, PA 18634-3899.
